Flight Examiners play a central safety role in aviation. They maintain pilot licence standards in Europe. With the publication of the Flight Examiner’s Manual (FEM) EASA provides a reference companion to the Examiner standardisation requirements as set out in the Aircrew Regulation 1178/2011.

The manual contains 15 documents and covers the full range of licences and ratings. It helps to explain the contents of the Aircrew Regulation and also gives standardisation and best practice guidance.

The FEM will continually evolve over time and a process will be established to seek feedback from industry to enable updates and improvments.

The FEM can be downloaded on the EASA web site
